Intro

Tasks are a feature in Milky Way Idle. Accessible after completing the Tutorial, Tasks come in different types, from gathering resources to fighting monsters and even crafting new tools and weapons. The length of the tasks varies, and so do the rewards offered, which come in the form of Coins and Task Tokens.

Location

The Task menu is located on the sidebar between the Marketplace and Milking icons. It is represented by a Task Tokens icon.

The Task Board

Frequency: Tasks are assigned periodically, starting with one every 8 hours. However, completing tasks and purchasing the task cooldowns from the token shop this can reduce the time down to 4 hours.

Variety: Tasks may involve gathering/production skills or defeating monsters. The generated tasks will slightly prioritize skills in which the player has a higher level.

Rerolls: You can reroll tasks using coins or cowbells. The cost starts at 10,000 coins or 1 Cowbell, and the price doubles with each reroll on a specific task, capping out at 320,000 coins or 32 cowbells.

Discard tasks: If there’s a task you simply don’t want to complete you can discard it from the task board by clicking the trash icon, then the delete button.

Capacity: Tasks do not expire, but there's a limit of 8 task slots. The capacity can be increased through upgrades in the cowbell store.

Rewards

Completing tasks rewards you with Coins and Task Tokens.

A Task Point is also granted for every Task Token rewarded from tasks.

Every 50 Task Points you accumulate rewards you a Purple's Gift, which can be opened to obtain Coins, Task Tokens, Task Crystals, and various loot boxes.

Task Shop

Task Tokens can be spent in the Task Shop for permanent upgrades or items, including:

  • Task Cooldown: Reduces the cooldown between tasks by 1 hour. Max limit of 4 purchases.
  • Block Slots: Allows blocking specific skills from being assigned as tasks. Combat blocking has to be unlocked at an additional cost.
    • Note: When the combat block is unlocked, a block slot is still required to enable it.
  • Task Crystals: Used for crafting or upgrading task badges with the Crafting skill. Task badges provide multiplicative action speed or damage bonuses while undertaking tasks. Costs 50 Task Tokens each.
  • Loot Boxes: Large Meteorite Cache, Large Artisan's Crate, and Large Treasure Chest. All cost 30 Task Tokens each.

It is recommended for new players who are interested in tasks to first max out the -1 Hour Task Cooldown for most Task Token gains (for 4 times) before any other upgrade such as block slots and crystals.
